Much Interest in 100 Top Salaries; What About The Bottom 100?

There has been much attention in Ocean City, these past few weeks, focused on the salaries of the 100 highest-paid employees in town government. It seems appropriate that this list has been released, because voters and taxpayers need reliable information. (The list is printed in the Feb. 13 issue of Ocean City Today, on page 24A.)

It would also be enlightening to know the salaries of the 100 lowest-paid employees in town government. Not seasonal employees, and not trainees (people with less than one year on the job). I'm curious about the 100 lowest-paid year-round workers with at least a year on the job. Or even the lowest 200.

Whatever those at the bottom are making, however adequate or inadequate, fair or unfair, one thing is sure. It won't be going up anytime soon.
