St. Patrick's Day Parade & Irish Festival in Ocean City

The 2009 St. Patrick's Day Parade and Irish Festival in Ocean City, Maryland, got the green light from the Mayor and City Council this week.

Ocean City's 29th Annual St. Patty's Day Parade, second largest St. Patrick's parade in Maryland, will be Saturday, March 14, stepping off at noon.

The marching bands, floats, and other participants will begin at 61st Street and march south along Coastal Highway to the reviewing stand at the 45th Street Shopping Center.

An Irish Festival of live entertainment, dancers, face painting, Irish apparel, and food and drink, will take place at the 45th Street Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the same Saturday. Admission to the Irish Festival is free, and music will be provided by the Off the Boat Band featuring James Gallagher.

The St. Patrick's Day Parade and Irish Festival in Ocean City are sponsored by the 300-member Delmarva Irish-American Club. Pete and Susan Copenhaver will be grand marshals for the parade.

Many of Ocean City's hotels, restaurants, and shops will be open for the St. Patrick's weekend, and most of the rest will open by Easter.
