Ocean City Blog Preview

This is a test post to preview the Ocean City, Maryland, Hometown Blog, which will begin publishing on New Year's Day, Jan. 1, 2009. I hope to start with coverage of the 15th Annual Penguin Swim, which is a fund-raiser for the Atlantic General Hospital Foundation.

The annual plunge into the Atlantic Ocean is scheduled for 1 p.m. Jan. 1, on the Ocean City beach at 91st Street. Registration for the event is at noon. An awards ceremony will follow in the atrium of the Princess Royale Hotel, also at 91st Street. The good news is that you can contribute to the hospital, even if you don't want to plunge into the ocean.

Tradition and history are valued in Ocean City, Maryland. So during the first week of January, I plan to launch the Ocean City Blog with a daily series highlighting some well-known boardwalk businesses that have weathered the test of time, and weathered it well. I'll try for one or two pictures a day.
