Ocean City Boardwalk Traditions: Kohr Bros.

It's a Sunday in January, a dark night in Ocean City, Maryland, except for the thin film of new white snow on my car. After a couple of days of COLD cold, in the 20s, now it's only normal cold, 31 degrees. With snow showers. Forecast: maybe rain and snow showers tomorrow, maybe not. Possible accumulation, one inch.

So I'm thinking, FROZEN CUSTARD. It's a good time for another installment in our series on tradition along the Boardwalk.

Kohr Bros., Frozen Custard, Since 1919. Did they have refrigeration in 1919? How did they keep the frozen custard frozen? I can't say. My parents weren't even born until the following year, 1920.

Recapping the traditions: We've got hotels, starting with the Atlantic; we've got candy, Dolle's; rides and amusements, Trimper's; and now it's 1919 and we have frozen custard. I think we can say that Ocean City is well on it's way to becoming America's Best Family Resort.
