Downtown OC, Old & New -- Townhouses

New townhouses like these on the north side of 1st Street near Philadelphia Avenue are a great addition to downtown Ocean City, Maryland, in my opinion. These townhouses have four levels, but the overall effect is of moderate size and tasteful design, in keeping with the surrounding neighborhood.

Notice the front porches on every level. Porches, front, back, sides, everywhere, are a signature of beach architecture, whether traditional or modern. The porches here are wide, but they could be a little deeper, the better to accommodate rocking chairs and other outdoor furniture. And notice what you don't notice. No garage in front. These townhouses come complete with garages, but the garages are located at the back of the house, where they belong.
