Dough Roller Rises From The Ashes

Against all odds, the Ocean City Boardwalk looked almost summery for a few hours Sunday afternoon. We had rain, heavy at times, during the past two nights, but no rain during the day! How do you explain that?

In early afternoon Sunday, the sunshine was bright, the sky a clear blue with no clouds, and lots of people were strolling the Boardwalk and enjoying temperatures in the low 60s.

The new Dough Roller Restaurant on the Boardwalk at South Division Street opened for business this weekend. The old restaurant at that corner was destroyed by fire last March 30. What a feat of timing! A beautiful, spacious restaurant constructed and opened in a few days short of a year! The building is a great example of modern resort architecture. It is a handsome addition to the Boardwalk, and nicely compliments the traditional look in the older part of Ocean City.

I bought a big slice of pizza at the walk-up window, and relaxed on a bench to watch the passers-by. The pizza was awesome.

You might say this spot on the Boardwalk brings together a critical mass of fun. Trimper Rides (not yet open) is on South Division Street, behind the Dough Roller. In front, across the Boardwalk, is a Dumser's ice cream stand, and then the Inlet Parking Lot, the beach and the ocean. Day-trippers could park in the lot and enjoy an entire day and evening right there in the vicinity of South Division Street.
