Watercolor Beach Art by Ted Gurtner

Photos COPYRIGHT by Ted Gurtner. No reproductions without the express consent of the photographer.

Here are three slightly different takes on a colorful Ocean City beach scene, courtesy of Ted Gurtner of Ocean Pines. The pictures look like ordinary digital photographs, but take a closer look. (You can click on any of the pictures to see a much larger version.)

Ted enhanced the photos with a watercolor effect to create beautiful pictures of the Ocean City beach, with vivid colors. Ted has enlargements of his art (suitable for framing) available for sale. He can be reached at 443-856-8264 or e-mail: ztag88@yahoo.com

The horizontal picture at the top is artfully bracketed by the posts of the sand fence on the beach, and people give life and action to the scene. The two vertical pictures show a second, multi-colored beach umbrella, and the picture at right adds a seagull with an impressive wingspan. Notice a subtle difference in the coloring of the two vertical pictures. The picture at left appears to have more realistic blues in the sky and the ocean. In the picture at the right, the sky has an almost purple tint and the sand and the fence have just a touch of red.
