Ocean City Boardwalk, A Close-up Look at the Engineering






















The boardwalk (above) can look pretty empty on a weekday in the off-season. But that makes repairs a little easier.

Here we have two close-ups of the boardwalk underpinnings that only an engineer could fully appreciate. The top picture is looking at the work from the north, and the bottom picture is a view from the south. I understand the boardwalk is constructed to be able to support the weight of a firetruck.

You'll be able to pick out the repair site after it's finished because the new boards will be unweathered, compared tot he older bords around them.
